BNP Paribas enters exclusive negotiations with AXA for the acquisition of Axa Investment Managers and a long-term partnership in asset management

Paris, 19th March 2023 – 7:00 CET

The BNP Paribas Group announces that it has entered into exclusive negotiations with AXA to acquire 100% of AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM). This acquisition would create a global asset management leader with c. €1,000 billion of assets under management. The transaction includes a long-term partnership agreement for the distribution of asset management products through AXA’s global insurance distribution network.

The proposed transaction would combine the strengths of BNP Paribas and AXA to create a leading asset manager with a comprehensive range of investment solutions for clients around the world. BNP Paribas is a leading European bank with a strong presence in high growth markets, particularly in Asia. AXA IM is one of the world's largest asset managers with a strong track record in active management and responsible investing.

The combined entity would offer a complementary range of products and services, including fixed income, equities, real estate, private markets and multi-asset solutions. The transaction would also create a global leader in environmental, social and governance (ESG) investing, with a commitment to sustainable and responsible investment.
