CMT Giants and Equal Play Award Recipients Announced
The 2023 CMT Music Awards celebrated the biggest stars in country music on April 2nd at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas. The night was filled with electrifying performances and memorable moments, including a special tribute to country legend Shania Twain, who received the CMT Equal Play Award.
Leading the way with four nominations, Lainey Wilson emerged as the biggest winner of the night. She took home the awards for Female Artist of the Year, Breakthrough Artist of the Year, and CMT Digital Performance of the Year for her song "Wait in the Truck" with Hardy. Dierks Bentley's "Worth a Shot" won Song of the Year, while Gabby Barrett's "Pick Me Up" was named Video of the Year.
Other big winners included Kane Brown and Katelyn Brown, who won for Duo/Group Video of the Year for "Thank God." Keith Urban's "Wild Hearts" won Performance of the Year, and Kelsea Ballerini's "HEARTFIRST" earned the award for Collaborative Video of the Year.
The CMT Giants Award, which recognizes legendary country music artists, was presented to Stevie Ray Vaughan and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Tribute performances were given by artists such as Jimmie Allen, Kane Brown, and Mickey Guyton.
